fnox env

  • Usage: fnox env [FLAGS]

Print the environment fnox would give a command, as JSON for other tools

For tools that start processes themselves, such as mise. stdout carries one line of JSON and contains secret values in plain text. Callers apply remove, then set, then files.

Flags

  • --describe — List keys and where each may be injected, without resolving anything

  • --for <SCOPE> — Where the environment will be injected

    Choices: exec, shell

    Default: exec

  • --json — Print JSON (required)

  • --keys <KEY> — Only these keys, plus the secrets they depend on. Repeat or comma-separate

  • -h --help — Print help

Examples

For tools that start processes themselves, such as mise. stdout contains secret values in plain text; do not log it. Errors exit 1 with a JSON error document on stdout, except argument errors (exit 2) and a missing --json (exit 1), which print nothing; see the reference for the full table.
